Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
(OCIA)
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (O.C.I.A.): OCIA is a gradual four-step process designed to welcome new members into the Catholic Church and to invite all parishioners into ongoing conversion. Today's Order of Christian Initiation recovers the early church's emphasis on conversion of heart leading to a dramatic single celebration of baptism, confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. At the same time, the Christian initiation process respects the experiences of baptism and formation that may have already taken place in those called to continue their faith journey in the Catholic Church. A team of parishioners will accompany inquirers through this process.
